De Luxe Cafe & Lounge

The warm weather is rolling through and so our hiking adventures were upon us! We were hiking down Eaton Canyon when I was ended up being starving and was mad craving some breakfast type food after our uphill trek to the waterfalls. We hopped onto Yelp and luckily found this new place that served breakfast all day! It was also just down the street from Eaton Canyon on Washington Street so we packed our stuff and made our way to the restaurant.

When we arrived, it’s very similar to old town style where it’s mostly street parking. We managed to find a parking lot behind the stores, although it’s a little far from the front door. You’d have to park and walk around to the front, but you can park right at the front if it’s available (parallel parking). Du Luxe offers outside seating with a wide and spacious patio albeit lacking in umbrella shade (cafe only had one and so only blocked shade for one table and it was taken already) as well as indoor seating. Only thing is, their indoor is connected to their out door patio in a wide open space door so there’s no a/c inside. It was definitely very warm sitting indoors.

We ordered their egg white ($0.99) “Chinatown Omelette”, their vegetarian omelette ($6.99) and their 2×4 ($7.79) which included two eggs, two sausages, 2 bacon, and two french toasts with an add-on for home fries and toast for an extra $1.99. We also added a fruit oatmeal ($2.69) as our appetizer. When our food arrived it was well portioned with an amazing and delicious aroma not to mention it looked amazingly scrumptious! I dug into my omelette and was very impressed how flavorful the dish was. The egg white wasn’t over watery or overcooked, it balanced out the diced vegetables (tomato, onions, mushrooms, green bell peppers, and spinach) very well. The highlight though was definitely their hone fries, not the deep fried kind but this nice skillet tossed with a light brown crisp skin on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside jammed full of spices and flavor. I loved the taste of it and every bite I had to remind myself to savor the flavor and try not to eat it too fast!

The boyfriend also loved his dish, his scrambled eggs were cooked very nicely where the center was still gooey and soft, just the way he likes it. The sausage and bacon also weren’t overly salty and oily, rather both had a nice flavor balance. He really enjoyed his french toast as well, it was soft and decadent without being soggy and it wasn’t too sweet either. We definitely really enjoyed our meals from De Luxe Lounge & Cafe! Not to mention the total price only came out to $22.00 for all our food for the both of us and the staff there were nothing short of amazing and kind. 🙂 I can’t wait until I come back again (too bad it’s a little ways off from where we live)!
